Available rebates for sessions

Medicare Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP)

Our psychology sessions are supported by Medicare when you have a referral, in the form of a Mental Health Care (MHC) plan, from your GP. To get a referral you will need to make an appointment with your GP who will need to complete the MHC plan. When making your appointment with your GP, it is important to tell the GP’s receptionist that you want a referral to a psychologist and need to speak to them about your eligibility for the scheme. If eligible, Medicare will refund $84.50 for each individual session on a MHC plan (for 10 sessions in a calendar year). You will need to see your referring GP after the first 6 sessions (unless otherwise identified by your GP) who will then assess your progress and determine your eligibility for another 4 sessions.

For more information speak to your GP or access the Medicare Australia website www.medicareaustralia.gov.au

Private Health Funds

Some health funds pay a rebate for psychology session fees. You will need to contact your own fund to see if you will receive a rebate, and how much, as this varies considerably between funds.

We are also a registered WorkCover provider if psychology sessions are covered as part of a WorkCover claim.

Payment Options

Payment is to be made upfront at each session. Cash, EFTPOS, and credit cards are accepted. HICAPS is also available for direct private health fund rebate and Medicare refund claiming. We cannot, however, enter into arrangements that involves the provision of credit.

In the event of an emergency, please call Lifeline (13 11 14) (24hrs), or Kids Helpline (1800 55 1800), or contact your GP or local hospital.
